Baltic Media Language Learning Centre offers online language courses as both private lessons and group classes.   You can attend courses that are taking place at Baltic Media office together with other participants online. All participants can attend a video conference via Skype or other online communication tool.

✅ Why should you learn Russian?

Russian (русский язык) is an East Slavic language, which is official in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as being widely spoken throughout Eastern Europe, the Baltic states, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages, one of the four living members of the East Slavic languages, and part of the larger Balto-Slavic branch.

It is the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages and the largest native language in Europe, with 144 million speakers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Russian is the eighth most spoken language in the world by number of native speakers and the seventh by total number of speakers.

✅ How long does it take to master Russian?

In order to learn the communication phrases used by tourists in daily situations a couple days in the language course will suffice. However, if you want to master written and spoken Russian more properly, you should allow one to three years. In order to achieve an academic level, you will need at least five to seven years.

With time and motivation you can master Russian faster. The more time you dedicate to learning the language, the faster you will achieve the result. Daily communication in Russian will be a great advantage. And do not forget the media (radio and television), press, cultural events, music, and films in Russian.

✅ Does your mother-tongue affect your mastery of Russian?

If you speak Bulgarian or Ukrainian or one of these languages is your mother-tongue, you will learn Russian easier and faster. People proficient in Slavic languages will see similarities with the Russian grammar system and words loaned from these languages.

Some important tips in order to master Russian faster:

  • Learn each new word in the context it is used in.
  • Repeat what you have learned often because repetition is the mother of learning;
  • Use both real and virtual Russian language domain;
  • Use the media (TV, radio, music, literature, social media platforms) in Russian;
  • Read fiction in Russian, start with easy Russian;
  • Let yourself make mistakes, use the language, jump in the Russian language river for a swim! You can do it!

Each language learner is different, however, you can see roughly how much effort and time you will have to dedicate to learning the language below:

C2 - 60 hours (C2/1) + 60 hours (C2/2)

B2 - 60 hours (B2/1) + 60 hours (B2/2)

✅ Is there a Russian language course for companies?

Teachers of the Baltic Media Language Learning Centre are professionals who use a creative, contemporary approach to preparing and conducting language courses and will adapt the content to your needs and wishes.

Russian language courses we offer:

  • Correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2);
  • Use a test to assesses Russian language skills of employees before starting a course;
  • Develop all the necessary Russian language skills with a focus on speaking;

During the studies, the teacher checks the progress of participants of the Russian language course and at the end of the course submits to the employer a report on presence / absence and the assessment of language skills. ✅ What kind of Russian language courses are available for individuals?

Baltic Media Language Training Centre offers private lessons or group classes. If you travel or go on business trips often, it is worth applying for Skype classes. Our teachers will develop a Russian language course programme to meet your needs.

During classes you will learn how to do the following:

  • Communicate to leave a good impression;
  • Tell about your culture or find out about the differences in another culture;

✅ Do you offer individual language lessons?

If you want to master the language faster, you might want to apply for private Russian language lessons.

Individual Russian language course is especially effective as the lecturer dedicates all their attention to one language learner. Although one academic hour is slightly more expensive than a group lesson, money is spent more effectively and in the long run private lessons will cost you less. If you study individually, you will need less classes to achieve the desired result than you would in a group setting. 

If you have no prior knowledge of Russian, start with the beginner's level A1.

✅ How much does a Russian language course cost?

24 classes (48 academic hours) will cost you from 279 euro (incl. VAT), if the classes are conducted in an open group setting at the Baltic Media Language Training Centre on Elizabetes iela 11, Riga. The price of individual learning is from 20.00 EUR + VAT (21%) per one academic hour (45 min.). One standard lesson usually lasts 1.5 h (2 x 45 min.).
